Why ParaMast.com?  The ParaMast was invented about 12 yrs ago as a way to hold the wing/chute of a Powered Parachute off the water so a PPC could fly off water.  It is a Pair of Mast (ParaMast) that do the job.   I currently fly off lakes with the Mariner PPC.  They can be adapted to most all PPC's for both Land or Seaplane ops.   The Mariner Seaplane PPC can be built for you to enjoy flying like a bird with ease and safety.

Here is what the Mariner can do for you.

1 -  No LICENSE needed.  You can get instruction of about 3 hrs and safely fly this ultralight vehicle.

2 - It is considered an Ultralight Vehicle and not a FAA certified aircraft, so there are only a few rules to fly this vehicle for recreational use only.

3 - Maintnance is about the same as for a typical outboard motor boat.  Simple 2 stroke engine that is used in ultralight vehicles for over 20 yrs powers your craft with a composite water resistant prop used on many seaplane aviation aircraft.

4 - The Ram Air Parachute wing is one of the best in the USA, built in the USA and used in several thousand land PPC's.  It will last many years and of course should have inspections and repairs made at 1 -2 yrs intervals.  Its a prudent thing to have whats holding you in the air checked for safety.

5 - It uses the throttle to gain or lose altitude and you steer in the air with simple foot pressure either right or left.  Thats all the controls to fly safe and easily.

6 - You normally fly in winds below 10 mph and with less than 5 mph gust.  The Mariner will handle more winds, but its not comfortable and reduces the fun along with needing more skill to fly in higher winds.  Usually the early mornings and evenings before sunset are the best time for perfect flights when winds are less than 5-6 mph.
The winds are calm, steady and the lake is flat (1-2 feet waves are max for safe flying).

7 - You will normally fly at altitudes of 300 to 700 feet above the ground for the best views of your lake or river.  The Mariner is able to go to over 5000' and run correctly.  You are required by rule to NOT fly over congested areas, so over the open lake is perfect.  Give right-a-way to boats and check your local lake authority to be sure you may use the lake for seaplane operations.

8 - You can store the craft in a trailer, shed or covered with tarp and the wing packs up into a bag between flights.  It takes about 15 minutes to prepare for flight and put away after flight.  It is not recommended to leave it on the water as it will deminish the life of floats.

9 - It takes about 800 feet to get airborne and lands in about 200 feet.  It will climb with a maximum pilot weight of 240 lbs at about 400 FPM on a normal 75 degree and 50% RH day.  If you are lighter, it flies slower and with less power needed than the heavier pilot/operator.  You need a
at least 125 lbs of pilot weight.

10 - You can only fly on and off water as the Mariner has no wheels.  It is strictly seaplane operational.

11 - It uses a unique "ParaMast" system to hold the parachute wing off the water and once trained, you can manage its operation to be able to stop and start on the water.

12 - The Mariner comes ready to fly and instruction is available and recommended from persons who have experience in flying the Mariner.  They rely on the experiences of their flights and pass on valuable information so you can fly safely.  There is no FAA certified training program for these ultralight vehicles.

13 - The Mariner holds 5 gallons of oil mixed fuel (50:1) and can fly for about 1 hour (+/-).   The engine is air cooled and needs no radiator or water.

14 - It is recommended that the age of 16 yrs is attained to fly safely, and PPC's have been flown by 80+ year olds often.   ITs really quite simple and if flown in good weather with light winds, has a wonderful safety record.  It the engine should fail, you simply glide at about 3:1 to the water and land on the water with no damage to craft or body.  Its almost like a trained landing with engine at very low power.  You just have miss trees, powerlines and boaters.  If you have to make a emergency landing on land, it will do so with an abrupt stop and you would trailer it home as it will not take off from land.

15 - It flies at about 30-32 mph, basically one speed all the time.  Power settings only make it go p or down.  You won't want to fly it to get to a destination of some distance, but it will go 20-40 miles (depending on winds and directions) on 5 gallons.

16 - The floats are AIR-Filled (Full Lotus Floats) and have abundant bouyancy and toughness.
They last many years with minimal maintenance.  They are able to handle rocky situations with out the typical  dents and holes that can be had on fiberglass or aluminum floats.

17 - There is always inherent RISK with flying ultralight vehicles and you are responsible for all operations with this vehicle.  You fly at your OWN RISK!   Remember, it is NOT certified by anyone and training is not certified by anyone.   Be responible and it will fly you safe for many years.
